Albums you've listened to today

GIMH

Norwood's on Fire
Playlists and individual songs not welcome in here. Albums only

Quite a few for me today

Last Shadow Puppets - Everything You've Come to Expect
Oasis - Heathen Chemistry
Oasis - Dig Out Your Soul
Pearl Jam - Ten
Nine Inch Nails - Downward Spiral
Rolling Stones - Out Of Our Heads
Arctic Monkeys - AM
The La's - The La's

And currently listening to Rolling Stones - Aftermath

A few were the missus choices. Lockdown is crazy. Weekdays are insanely busy. Weekends we take a walk then drink and play music while the kids do everything they can to avoid socialising with us. Long may it continue

After this I also listened to

Nirvana - In Utero
The Beatles - Please Please Me
Noel Gallaghers High Flying Birds - Noel Gallaghers High Flying Birds

Missus chose the first and third on that list but I fully approve

So far, just Pantera - Cowboys From Hell. I was never really a fan of theirs, but my partner introduced me to this album and it's great.

It's been ages since I listened to it, hardly remember it. I think Vulgar Display of Power was my favorite album when I used to be more into their stuff.

Strictly speaking, none, yet.

But yesterday I listened to:

I am not a Dog on a Chain - Morrissey
Giants of All Sizes - Elbow

They're both returns to form, after a fashion. Elbow are incapable of making a bad album, but The Take Off and Landing of Everything and Little Fictions both paled slightly in comparison with what had gone before.

But Morrissey, the racist old turd, has only gone and made his late period classic. I was a little reluctant to buy it, given his now public views and its lukewarm reviews, but every negative review has been refereeing the player not the play.

I'm admittedly a (sort of former) massive fan, but it's his strongest set of songs since You Are The Quarry, well over a decade and a half ago now.

Do the lyrics match his current views?
No, not at all, really. Some minor sub-Trumpian "fake news" whinging on the title track is as close as he gets,

I do not read newspapers, they are troublemakers;
Listen out for what's not shown to you and there you find the truth

Last Shadow Puppets - The Age of the Understatement

Not a patch on their 2016 effort but still a cracker from two men in their early 20s basically having a load of fun in France and making some tunes in the process

Royal Blood - self-titled
Tame Impala - Lonerism

Liked the former a lot though it's not especially original. Tame Impala has been recommended to me more than once but it's a bit messy for my ear..

Ouch. That's a year 10's tweet.
