Was a bit worried about the bowling attack a little bit for that match with only Roberts and Forner (only a couple matches) playing FC cricket out of the specialist. But once again they all stepped up. The batting performance in the first innings was a worry, but great captain knock from Zac got us a decent total. Then Arnold showed his class, as Read cemented the No 3 spot in the 2nd dig. Very good performance overall.

Great win. Happy to finally take some wickets. Fantastic knocks from Arnold and Ritchie and Pares bowled well throughout.

Webheads unchanged

After the Webheads made it 4 from 4 in the last couple of matches during their tour Australia. The CricketWeb selectors have named an unchanged line up for the first Youth Test against Australia. Their was some talk around the camp about the potential selection of Youth ODI heroes Manju Reddlapalli and Mark Hopgood. But the selectors stayed faithful to Matt Luff and Chris Dwyer. Both will require some big performances in the first Youth Test to keep their spots.

CW Squad: 1. MD Luff, 2. AR Arnold, 3. BS Read (wk), 4. ZJ Ritchie (c), 5. WA Kerr, 6. CR Dwyer ,7. BC Donald (vc), 8. DPW Pares, 9. JNE Forner, 10. GM Roberts, 11. EAP McNamara. 12th Man: M Reddlapalli

1st Youth Test: Australia Under-19s vs Cricket Web Under-19s
at WACA, Perth

Scorecard
Ball By Ball

Six players contributed well enough in Cricket Web's effort; the four youngsters batting from eight to eleven, as well as last season's first class revelation Dwyer, need a good, hard look at themselves. The specialist bowlers, however, made 30 runs at an average of 4.28; they took 117.4 overs to take nine wickets, and each of them cost a tad over 55 runs. All in all, they allowed Australia to take a comfortable seven-wicket win which did not look remotely possible even when Austin had just trapped Will Kerr lbw at 321 for five.

The Webheads had been inserted, as a murky day and a bouncy wicket was expected to assist the new-ball efforts. Instead, Matt Luff bashed a fiery 49 in an opening stand of 65. Arnold was not dominant on the first day, but still forged useful partnerships, and his score of 62 was the third-highest; it was eclipsed by Kerr and Donald, who had nearly taken the game beyond the hosts with their stand of 107. Yet, Austin and Day exploited the second new ball much better than the first, roaring through the tail to leave Blake Donald stranded on 70.

The bowling, however, finally showed signs of the first class inexperience. Four-balls dominated, and the Australians were apt at dispatching them - runs came at a ferocious rate under the baking Perth sun on the second day, with Philip Hughes and Simon Keen scoring centuries at around a run-a-ball. Wade and Jamie Smith were slightly more restrained, but still played major parts in dominating partnerships, and Wade struck three sweet sixes during his 73. Pares finally recovered his form from a couple of days ago when bowling against the tail on the third morning, who opened the gap and were duly punished, but his overnight figures of nought for 89 from 23 overs describes the bowling more accurately. Roberts was an occasional threat with his leg spin, which worked out a belligerent Hughes, but was a costly weapon, while it took a gentle delivery from Ritchie to get Keen out on a Nelson.

Zac Ritchie paired up well with Ashley Arnold after initial strikes by Keen, and their third-wicket stand of 159 brought the Webheads into a hard-fought lead. Faulkner, who had got both openers out in the first innings, had been wasting his pace on players with good technique; however, once Robson had Ritchie lbw, he returned for a stunning spell. The hosts whipped their guests with hostility, as the last six partnerships combined for a meagre 29; the reasonable position at 131 for four turned into a target of 160, which, while a minor challenge, was academic by the time Matt Luff, in desperation, was called upon - and bowler Murphy with a gentle delivery, hardly 65mph, which grazed off stump after Murphy had left it alone. It was a minor setback; Kumar Sarna hit 79 as the Australians coasted home by seven wickets.

Cricket Web Under-19s 348 all out (89 overs)
BC Donald 70*, WA Kerr 63, AR Arnold 62; SN Austin 3-51

Australia Under-19s 533 all out (119 overs)
PJ Hughes 127, SJC Keen 111, JD Smith 76, MS Wade 73

Cricket Web Under-19s 345 all out (84.5 overs)
AR Arnold 142, ZJ Ritchie 78; JP Faulkner 5-79, SD Robson 3-75

Australia Under-19s 161 for three (37.4 overs)
AK Sarna 79

Australia Under-19s won by seven wickets
Man of the Match: P. J. Hughes (Australia Under-19s)

Meh performance tbh. Some good individual performances, but overall it's the team that counts.

We'll need to step it up big time for the next match.

Scorecard not working.

Arnold what a gun. Superb knock pity it didn't give us a win.

Haha cheers Dwyer, now hopefully selectors show some faith towards me :).

oh dear thts rubbish
yet again arnie's put in a great performance, but they were way too strong for our bowlers it seems - maybe on a more bowler friendly pitch we can challenge them next time

btw i worked out the proper link to the scorecard Scorecard

A decent performance from all the batsmen with Arnie leading the way. Bowling went missing, but im sure they will learn from that performance in the next match and during their FC careers.

Disappointing to lose that match. Fairly happy with my batting performance but the bowling left a lot to be desired. Arnold continues to impress.
