Youth wins through as CW XI go 4-1
Pakistan vs Cricket Web XI - 5th ODI
at the CW Oval

A partnership of 117 between the Cricket Web XI's two newest faces fashioned a comfortable 6-wicket win over Pakistan, sealing a one-day series result of 4-1. Rob Dauth and Dinu DeSilva recovered a score of 34-2, both scoring half-centuries and setting up the chase of 205 for victory.

Earlier the home side dismissed Pakistan for a paltry 204 all out. Mohammad Yousuf was the only genuine threat, as he scored a breezy 51 off 48 balls. Imran Farhat aside scored 59, but did so at a pace far more indicative of the nature of the surface. The opener laboured for 119 balls against disciplined bowling on a slow pitch.

Cricket Web XI captain Neil Pickup took 3-45, including the prize of Yousuf, but Dave Watt's steady bowling that proved equally outstanding. Watt claimed 3-25 and looked to be comfortable in his role as leader of the attack.

Shoaib Akhtar accounted for both Cricket Web openers very early in the second innings, but whatever worries may have been stirred up were soon cast aside by the steady contributions of Dauth and DeSilva. Neither batsman ever looked dominant, but always maintained control over the tempo and approach of the chase.

Great way to round off the series. Top effort all around, shame about the blip in ODI3. Now if only we could close out World Cups like that..

As far as my maths goes, my ODI bowling stats are now 155 wickets @ 22.01 in 89 ODIs. That makes me the third fastest bowler to 150 ODI wickets in history, behind Saqlain Mushtaq (78) and Brett Lee (82).

Great series by the Webheads. Glad to contribute in my own, pathetic, drink-carrying way. :D But definately worth it.

MOTS is Blackman for mine.

Good series win Webbers, and well done to Neil on 150.

Btw, my internet is currently down, and I do not know how long for (could be a day, a week, or month) - this is being typed from school. Hence, I may not be around much for a while.

As others have said, good work Webbers and well done Neil on the 150! Nice of the CW to give me a few days off ( at the CW Bar) before heading back to dev league ;)...

Little late, but it was great to play a few matches and hit the runs that sealed the series. Unstoppable ODI side we've got, even with key injuries.
