Nah, think we only go to 110 with a 3-0 win. Will a 3-0 whitewash against BD take them past India? Or close enough?
Historical only barely counts though. We have been there before in the historical rankings ... I tracked it down a while ago.
But still, awesome and well deserved!
Pretty sure we'd be on 110 already if we didn't have rain vs. SL (tbf they weren't wholly out of that match but we were still favoured)Nah, think we only go to 110 with a 3-0 win.

August 82 to May 83 and April 86 to December 87 were the stretches I found.https://web.archive.org/web/2013012...cricket.com/match_zone/historical_ranking.php
I guessed end of 1985-86 season, peak Crowe + Hadlee, beating Aust away and home. And from the link above, April 1986:
1 West Indies 132
2 New Zealand 102
3 Pakistan 99
I think Fleming's team got to 3rd, perhaps after the 1-1 in Windies.
I think we'd still lose but South Africa are definitely vulnerable at the moment. Amla's past it, Bavuma hasn't really developed as well as they'd like. Elgar is out of form. Morkel, Abbott, de Villiers are gone. Bowling is still top tier but Philander and Steyn are injury-prone.We're decent atm and this is good reward, but I'd really like to see us win a series against both South Africa and Australia, home or away, to justify being above them.
Sounds like we should got on the plane to South Africa tomorrow and play a couple of tests.
I hope I get to see this again in my lifetime.https://web.archive.org/web/2013012...cricket.com/match_zone/historical_ranking.php

distincly recall us being 3rd after the famous early 2000s india on greentops tourhttps://web.archive.org/web/2013012...cricket.com/match_zone/historical_ranking.php

Yessss that was awesome
But seriously, pretty cool. Best side in my living memory.
TV rights. We’re the ugliest duckling of Subcontinent friendly timezones.Makes even more of a mockery the fact SL & the Windies get to play lots more Test cricket than us. Certainly in recent times.
