  • Listening to that one right now, spot on yeah! He did a great one about three weeks ago that was dedicated to ripping Sanders apart. He truly despises him.
    Did you listen to Stapleton?

I only ask because you called Bernie an economic illiterate, which is a phrase Stapleton uses constantly about him
See, to me, I find the rise of nationalism insanely, aggressively frightening. Probably because I am reading lots of late 19th and early 20th century history, and I am in constant contact with relatives who are deeply frightened of what China is doing mere miles away, even if their government doesn't let them accept it. I also think Trump is not helping one bit in that regard, a war with China is my deepest fear from a Trump administration.

I also have deep personal friends who find Trump's rise frightening on a personal level (i.e. they fear they will be personally targeted), and they don't scare easily.

And to be fair what you've all described I got when I started dating my girlfriend haha. It puts stuff in perspective.
Yeah. I just really hate that ****ing **** and despise that so much airtime is basically devoted to fellating his ego. I just want everything surrounding him, his fanboys, his anti-fanboys to go away so we can spend time worrying about things and people who are actually worthy of our attention.
Nah. I try to keep up with research on it, but it seems like it'll be for the scientists of 2050, not right now, and I don't trust most research psychologists.
I'd definitely like to put my hand up and say that first crack I made the other day was out of line, btw. I stand by all of my opinions, but that first post was ****** of me.
Largely agree mate. I can't reconcile myself with conservatives in the UK because they are often about intolerance and elitism. The other main parties are either too far left, or UKIP. Many on the left want the same things for the world as I do they just disagree on how best to achieve it (I'm talking a more traditional left rather than the idiots polluting the internet and sound waves these days). For me government represents the greatest evils of history. The Nazis, Stalin, British Empire, slavery, all government actions. Once you realise that they have the power to ruin your life at a moments notice it is hard to turn back isn't it?
Always been anti-nanny state, a personal situation in late 2015 brought a lot of truths about interventionist politics home for me.
I've never ever been to the left of centre, over the years I ranged from Tory to centrist but landed on classic liberalism in recent years and things have gone from there, really.
Dude that's an awesome list haha, thanks. I need to mix things up more so feel free to shout up any and always :D

In turn, a few that you may enjoy if you're not familiar with them...

    The Jason Stapleton Program
    Part of the Problem
    Tom Woods

All your sort of politics but particularly Stapleton I would guess...
As for DMT, I doubt I'd be able to procure it even if I wanted to. I read it is produced naturally during dreams.. even my dreams are utterly boring and uneventful! I wouldn't mind having an epiphany-type experience but in my case, it's probably more likely to be a gradual, incremental thing over several years. The fractal stuff and "mechanical dwarves" etc sound pretty cool though.
I once read a book called 'Godel, Escher, Bach' and most of my (highly speculative and amateur) musings on this subject (nature of consciousness, intelligence etc.) are due to the interest that piqued in me. You should give it a go if you get time.
Thanks for all the detailed answers! Definitely a lot of food for thought there.. it's interesting to think about these things and even though I try to keep an open mind, sometimes a scientific and analytical education and background definitely influences my worldview a lot more than I like to admit, and I do tend to dismiss a lot of stuff off-hand because it "sounds like pseudo-science", not really giving it deep thought.
The soul thing is intriguing.. I've never been able to convince myself why a soul is necessary to explain consciousness. At what level does a being become conscious enough to require a soul.. I mean, intelligence of animals is a sliding scale with humans at the top end.
