He's terrible. He also gets names wrong constantly... he keeps saying Sabbir Ai instead of Sabbir Rahman and Kedhar Yadav instead of Jadhav.

On another note, I have to say Ponting is a ****ing brilliant commentator. He is the exact opposite of a C9 Aussie commentator - he is deeply interested in the game, he does his research, he is almost geeky in how prepared he is about new unheard players like Fakhar etc. Best new commentator today.

Yeah... he is good and Dravid was outstanding when he was around... You kinda had to prod him to talk but its obvious he had excellent insights to the game. In fact in 2014, one of the few highlights of that series when India were in England was their commentary on star. Was absolute gold whenever you had Ganguly and Dravid on at the same time.

There are positives for Bangaldesh - Tamim being in gun mode for this tournament is right at the top of the list and Shakib-Mahmudullah partnership against New Zealand should be there too but overall Bangladesh should consider this tournament as a disappointment.

Soumya is a player who is fading away pretty fast. Mustafiz is not the same bowler after his injury.

Shakib and Mushfiq both had the opportunity to press on produce a brilliant knock and both failed in a crucial match. Given that these are the best and most experienced players, this should go down as a major failure.

Bangladesh will have to treat this as a failure rather than "oh we at least made the semis so we are fine".

Ultimately they won 1 game, lost 2 and were about to lose the 4th.

BD aren't at the same level as Aus/Eng/India yet. But they're getting better.

Batting needs more consistency. Fizz needs some time off, doesn't look fully fit yet. Moses should be groomed to bat higher up, Shabbir should take up the finisher role.

Taskin, Rubel and Fizz are the future of the pace attack. They need to learn how to take charge when Mashrafe isn't around.

Some positive signs. Making steps in the right direction.

They also need a better captain.

I wonder what the future is for Masrafe. Is he going to be captain for the next World Cup? If not, then when do you make the change?

They also need a better captain.
More precisely, they need a captain who can justify his place in the team without the captaincy. Mashrafe is a fine captain, but his presence means that Bangladesh start the match with 10.5 players.

I agree Mashrafe brings in much needed experience to the bowling line up but do folks here seriously think the side looks weaker with Miraz there at 8 instead of him?

Tamim
Imrul / Sarkar
Mushfiqur + (c)
Mosaddek
Shakib
Mahmadullah
Shabbir
Miraz
Taskin
Rubel
Fizz

looks a better line up at least on paper than the one they have going currently. Should help them stay in games more and therefore slowly leading to more consistent wins.

There is no leader in that bowling attack.

We need Mortaza for another year or two atleast until Tasking, Fizzy and Rubel mature.

Yeah, all their four quicks were completely ineffective yesterday and they had no one to change things up.

What am I missing wrt Rubel? Looks innocuous to me. Not in pure pace, but effectiveness.
Pace, reverse swing, when he finds some consistency and rhythm he acts as a poor-man's Mark Wood by being a weird 90 mph economical middle overs bowler. Also handy at the death cuz he can get yorkers and bouncers in.

By and large he's just too wayward and doesn't seem to have fully matured as a bowler yet.
