Guys,

After talking to simon tonight, we both agree that the seasons are to short.. It seems that we are constantly doing off season work and the season is over in a flash...

SO...


We are proposing that the season be extended, now to do this we would have to merge divisions..

Now we've spoken about this and our prefered method is the following..


Div 1 (12 Teams) - All Div 1 teams and top 4 div 2 and top 2 div 3
Div 2 (8 Teams) - Bottom 2 div 2 and 3-5 div 3 and top 3 div 4
Div 3 (8Teams) - 6th div 3 and 4-5 div 4 and top 4 div 5 and 1st div 6
Div 4 (8Teams) - 6th div 4 and 4-6 div 5 and bottom 2-6 div 6

Now that means uneven divisions..

Ok, Changes to the plan...

Taking into account that most peoples thoughts were against the idea because their were no home and away rounds in D1 we have put some changes in...

Basically now all divisions will stay as we originally planned HOWEVER:

D1 will play each other twice
D2-4 will play each other 3 times with 1 round in each form being a Bye

Now in doing this means we would have 44 weeks in the season, thats without Playoffs and the Cup Final.. Im sure all agree that this is to long...

So the plan is that 20 of the 22 OD rounds will be scheduled as double headers...
The opening and closing OD rounds will be stand-alone games... With this, it will also mean that there will be 2 weeks in between each OD Round...

So basically the season schedule will look like this...

One Day Double Header
Four Day
Four Day
One Day Double Header
Four Day
Four Day
One Day Double Header
Four Day

We are hoping to get this out this season, However we want to get opinions on this first..

seeing as though its 50% my idea ill have to support it! :D
but in all honesty this is a good move if you guys support it, the structuring means teams that went well last season are still advantaged... it also gives teams a chance to improve their divisions a bit quicker...

The problem with more teams is we would now have to use all rookies as the majority of RL players are already in WCC or retired off..

adding teams isnt on the agenda, 36 is a good number, one of my long term ideas has always been to have a larger division 1, kinda to even it out and really to have the best sides fighting it out...

Take away the two academy teams that won their respective divisions last season? Otherwise, I understand :) Nothing else to add, except that's a great idea.

cant happen, academy players become wcc players, think before you type greg :p

before someone brings it up, 4 divisions of 9 was also never an option as having a bye is definately a no go for wcc...

To add to this...

A Proposal of Playoff changes..


D1 - Bottom 2 Automatically down, 3rd last to playoff against 3rd from D2
D2 - Top 2 Automatically up, 3rd to playoff with 3rd last from D1 - Last Automatically down, 2nd last to playoff against 2nd from D3
D3 - Top Automatically up, 2nd to playoff with 2nd last from D2 - Last Automatically down, 2nd last to playoff against 2nd from D4
D4 - Top Automatically up, 2nd to playoff with 2nd last from D3

Coudn't we have 3 divisions of 12?

Merge Divisions 1 and 2, 3 and 4, and 5 and 6.

We could allways play each teams in our 6 team division 4 times?

And I guess 2 divisions of 18 would've been just too much? :(

But yeah, this makes the most sense...

the idea of adding 5 games to each form was an option, but there are some, myself included who for sometime have wanted less divisions and as ive said i like the idea of div 1 having more sides...

I don't think Div 1 should have the most teams. If anything, it should have the least so it's more of an achievement to get into it.
