Not sure where to post this, but just announced the squad for Australia today with some surprised

- Maxwell dropped (itstl)
- Lynn selected (proved himself after 1 dodgy big bash innings and still being unable to field)
- Paine recalled, Wade dropped
- Stoinis and M.Marsh both selected

Unable to field? He was hanging in the in-field during the last game.

Either way, Smith clearly hates Maxi and this is just another footnote.

I think Lehmann hates him.

It’s a trash non-selection, as Shri and I were just discussing here at Old Kings.

He was technically fielding, if you call sitting at short fine leg all innings and underarming the ball in to the keeper fielding.

Lynn over Maxwell is a blunder, why select a man who has hardly played any 50 over cricket over the last couple of seasons. T20 form does not equal ODI form.

It's been pretty obvious for a year or so that we have no real idea what the **** to do with the ODI team.

Lel, why even let him be in the field let alone play if his shoulder is still that glassy? Just as likely to play a **** shot after a couple of wallops and then ruin his shoulder again this series.

So Lynn doesn't bowl or field, good for hitting maximums and cameos and Smith thinks Maxi has to work on the little things in his game? The logic is indisputable.

Why not pick the other Marsh then? Was basically picked on the count of his 50 over form anyway and would probably be reliable if the brains trust is so worried about Maxwell's output.

TBF, Maxwell has been quite poor in ODIs for a couple of years now. Stoinis, Head etc. have made much more out of the chances they've been given.

Channel 10 subsidised Brisbane Heat so Lynn could play

Australia’s ODI squad: David Warner, Aaron Finch, Steve Smith (capt), Mitch Marsh, Marcus Stoinis, Travis Head, Chris Lynn, Tim Paine, Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, Andrew Tye, Adam Zampa, Jhye Richardson.
You'd almost think Justin Langer had picked the squad himself.

Gtfo of here with that. You neutrals and your sensible intelligent comments have no place in here.

Australia will smash England as usual in ODIs, doesn't particularly matter who they select.

I hope it's more competitive that the past couple of series between these two down here. They were awful.

****s post the squad

Steve Smith (capt), David Warner, Pat Cummins, Aaron Finch, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Chris Lynn, Mitchell Marsh, Tim Paine, Jhye Richardson, Mitchell Starc, Marcus Stoinis, Andrew Tye, Adam Zampa

Maxwell's dropping (both on form and team balance) is fine but TPC absolutely didn't need to say anything about how Maxwell trains
Lynn shouldn't be there either if, presumably, he's still not gonna dive in the field and his throwing is gonna be very limited. it seems a weird selection partiucally when you consider the times he didn't get picked for the OD team
Pleased Zampa didn't get dropped for Agar or something
Tye is a good selection. Richardson isn't really.

Yeah, I don't think this will be one-sided as Oz/England ODIs in Oz usually are.

Australia's still been very strong in home ODIs recently but I reckon they're a fair way off the team they had at the last World Cup. Strange how Cummins has become a mandatory selection in the ODI side; don't think he's been particularly great in that format as his record shows (both average and economy).
