Pool B - Argentina, England, Georgia, Romania, Scotland

Jesus wept.

If Scotland hadn't needed to win by 8 they'd have nailed that.

How much better did we look with Flood at outside half tho?

Both half-backs were awful today. That much was obvious even to me.
Youngs lost his cool far too easily.
Indeed. I never thought I'd miss Danny Care. **** can't pass but he at least knows his game. TBF to Youngs he was getting no lead from Haskell or Wilkinson so didn't know whether to stick or twist.

Easter & Flood must start v les frogs. Easter might not have Haskell's engine, but he's a specialist 8 and knows how to use the ball.

EDIT: Or Waldrom, I guess. But that would be a Hail Mary to debut in a WC QF. Home game for him tho, etc.

Feel a little bit sorry for Scotland having led for so much of the match and at one point with the margin that of more than 7 which they needed, but if you can't finish any of your opportunities I don't have much sympathy. They messed up by not getting the bonus point against Georgia (not scoring a single try), then failed to beat Argentina and then tonight had England on the back foot and couldn't capitalise on it. As for England, I'd love to know whats happened to Wilkinson's goal kicking because it was woeful - Flood made a great conversion for Ashton's try and threw the pass to set it up, so theres no reason in my mind why he shouldn't be starting.

Well we were crap but won. Bring on the French next week.

Scotland will have all this gallant in defeat **** spouted about them but they had 2 matches in their grasp and lost both and are now on way home. Not good enough.

Am I the only one who thinks that perhaps Tindall isn't the best choice in the centres?
Isn't an inside centre's arsehole and isn't as good an outside as Tuilagi, so no, you aren't.

Trouble is I'm far from convinced Hape or (god forbid) Banahan are serious options either.

Wilkinson #10 & Flood #12 an option.

I'd quite like to see a Wilkinson-Flood pairing in the team, on the grounds that Flood does all the majority of the goal kicking, and Wilkinson the majority of kicking from hand.

This. Wilkinson has been so poor with the boot over the last month. Almost as if the moaning about the ball has totally got to him now and he has lost confidence.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Youngs at #9 and Flood at #10 the best part of our 6N win? Not sure why that's been abandoned.

Most worrying aspect is the front row without a doubt, Stevens was destroyed.

Armitage & Tuliagi probably the only England players to come out of this with much encouragement.

I thought Foden and Easter (when he was on) both had fairly good games too.
