Drummers May Enjoy This

I'm not a fan of drum solos generally, but it's hard not to be impressed by the octopus-armed Mr Perkins there. He's oft mentioned as one of the best about by those who know such things.

I'll use this excuse to tell my favourite drummer joke:

What's the difference between a drummer and a drum machine?

You only have to punch the information into the drum machine once. :p

Don't mean to whizz in your thread but I've seen infinitely more impressive stuff played by Danny Carey, Mike Portnoy, Terry Bozzio, Dennis Chambers, Virgil Donati, Neil Peart, etc. This bit only barely touched on what is the standard for the really good drummers worldwide like cross rhythms, etc. I heard a couple of paradiddles and that was about it.

Terry Bozzio

Virgil Donati

Although my favourite drum solo as a non-drummer is from Neil Peart on the Rush: A Show of Hands video because he managed to integrate some melody;

And then there's freaks like Dennis "Dear God where the heck did those other two arms come from!?" Chambers

no fair do's, its just Janes Addiction have been one of my fave bands for the last 18 years, and I just stumbled on it and wanted to share.

To be honest, I dont like drum solos, but what stood out for me was the fact the Perkins one almost sounded like a song, just ready for the 'musicians' to fill in the gaps...some of the stuff you have posted , whilst technically incredible leaves me a bit cold.

Give me John Bonham, and Keith Moon any day!!!!:laugh:
