Really looking forward to getting a game. Hopefully Dinu and myself can get some good runs, and the best of luck to young Clapham in his international debut.

Bowlers rally to seal 4-0
Cricket Web XI vs Pakistan - 4th ODI

Scorecard
Ball by Ball

Pakistan fought in spurts, but it was ultimately another fruitless affair, as wickets tumbled at crucial intervals and clutch death bowling sealed a fourth consecutive one-day international victory for the Cricket Web XI over Pakistan. At 180-5 Kev Goughy crucially yorked Shoaib Malik for 20, and the Webheads rallied to defend a moderate total of 215-8.

Brendon Goff won the toss and elected to bat. Largely due to the strokeplay of Daniel Towns, the CW XI got off to a good start. It was a stunning catch by Shahid Afridi (having sneaked into the game past his ban) that stated the first breakthrough for Pakistan. Towns perished for a promising 20, and the flow of runs was gradually brought under control from then on. Goff failed again, falling for 10, then the middle order proceeded to be strangled by Saqlain in the middle overs.

The only constant other than the difficulty of scoring, proved the batting of Ian Markus. The big opening batsman has endured a difficult period of hot and cold form of late, but shone brightest for the Webheads in tough conditions. Markus paced his innings as was needed. He struggled to 50, but crucially made it there. The right-hander then accelerated somewhat and looked at far greater ease in advancing to 87 before his demise. Busy innings of 30 and 22 respectively from Alex Crampton and debutant Kingsley Clapham were also crucial in establishing the eventual total of 215.

Pakistan's chase suffered the early loss of a tied-down Afridi, but the batting of Imran Farhat and Yasir Hameed set a sold platform. Neil Pickup broke through with Farhat being the first of his 3 wickets on the day, and Clapham removed Yousuf for a duck - his most notable contribution on a largely forgettable day with the ball. But in Hameed Pakistan found their Markus; as he and Inzamam batted, Pakistan seemed on course once more. They had recovered the situation from 64-4 to 121-5 at the captain's dismissal.

Shoaib Malik took his place at the crease and batted with great confidence. Once again Pakistan looked on course for victory, and once more the Webheads struck back. Goughy's reverse swinging yorker was perhaps the ball of the innings, and for the crucial strike he was awarded the Man of the Match award.

Cricket Web XI 215-8 (50 overs)
I Markus 87; A Crampton 30
Mohammad Asif 2-40; Shahid Afridi 2-41

Pakistan 193 all out (46 overs)
Yasir Hameed 81; Imran Farhat 30
NS Pickup 3-49; DJ Watt 2-23; KS Goughy 2-29

Cricket Web XI won by 22 runs.

Turning into a very good debut series for Goughy and his combinations with Watt is looking quite solid. Crampton continues to save us with the bat, but it is disapointing the other batsmen have struggled so far. But the pitches have been quite bowler friendly. A very good knock from Markus at the top of order to hold the innings together.

And lastly a very good debut from Clapham and well done on your first very ODI wicket. Hopefully there is many to come.

Great series for the team and a good series for me.

Looks like a generous MOM award though :)

Probably the place to take time out to thank the U'19 coach for his role in my development. This winter has seen my CW career blossom and the U'19 tour of Asia was the key. Thanks :)

:) Great Win Fella's, and even better to be a part of it. Goughy, Markus & Pickup were Stars!!!

On a personal note, it wasn't the best debut i could've had, but it was solid, so i'm not complaining, just hoping that i can make a bigger impact next oppurtunity :)

Another good win.. The Bowlers have really stepped up this tour. They have had some small totals to defend and have done brilliantly...

Good result, Clapham didn't do too poorly with bat or ball on debut. Great batting from Markus on a bowler's wicket.

Bloody Afridi. >=(

Robbins and Wright in for last ODI

The Cricket Web XI selectors have brought in Marc Robbins and Kyle Wright for the final one-day international against Pakistan, heading into the game with a 4-0 lead. Liam Camps jr. and Dave Watt will rest out. Captain Brendon Goff will not get the chance to turn around his poor series, as he is rested for the final game, with Chris Butler returning to the lineup. In Goff's absence, Neil Pickup takes up the role of captain.

Razzaq returns for banned Afridi

With Afridi serving his ban, Abdul Razzaq returns to the Pakistan team and will provide a much needed 3rd seam option. Pakistan have made do with just 2 seamers for the last two matches, but have no elected to strengthen the bowling attack with the option of Razzaq. Bazid Khan is also tipped to play ahead of Younis Khan.

Disappointed not to be playing the last two ODI's but congrats on the great win the last game. Hopefully we can make it a clean sweep.

Oh wow. Great going guys. We really are becoming a dominant cricket country. A few more Test series wins coupled with our ODI record of the last few seasons and we can hold claims to being one of the top teams in both forms.

Pakistan hit back with consolation win
Cricket Web XI vs Pakistan - 5th ODI

Scorecard
Ball by Ball

Half-centuries from Daniel Towns and Marc Robbins came in vain, as Pakistan sealed a comfortable 75-run victory in the face of some generally careless cricket by the Cricket Web XI. In chasing 244 to win, the CW XI collapsed to 168 all out, and only three batsmen reached double figures.

Pakistan batted first for the second time in the series. The new ball spoke for the tourists, and Kev Goughy and Kyle Wright utilized it to good effect, limiting Pakistan to 26-2 early on. The middle order hit back solidly, however, and Pakistan recovered nicely despite the impressive efforts of Kingsley Clapham. Playing his second ODI, the left-armer was the pick of the bowlers and was rewarded with figures of 3-40. Far less impressive was stand-in captain Neil Pickup; his legspin was negotiated comfortably, as epitomized by a 16-run over, which included two noballs - a four and a six.

Sloppy cricket was symptomatic of the entire CW XI effort though. It started with a DeSilva's drop of Imran Farhat in the first over of the innings. Though Farhat did not add to his score, it set a precedent for the remainder of the innings. Inzamam-ul-Haq was dropped by Pickup off the bowling of Robbins, when he had just 7 runs. A ball later he was caught at cover, but Robbins' noball negated the wicket. To the relief of the tourists, Clapham bowled the Pakistan captain for a fairly inexpensive 23.

Pakistan only added 62 runs in the final 10 overs of the innings, but would have been limited further if not for the efforts of Abdul Razzaq - 28 off 25 balls. Robbins dropped the allrounder on 5. Clapham was visibly disappointed by the miss, but stuck to his task dutifully, and he removed Inzamam and Kamran Akmal off consecutive balls in his next over. The final over saw two more dropped catches - by Crampton, then Wright - and a towering six off the bat of Rehman, and Pakistan delighted in the poor fielding to reach 243-9.

It seemed the game would set up for another tight contest, and with a record of 4-0 backing the tourists, the CW XI started the chase as favourites. An early run out changed the reckoning swiftly. Markus failed to back up significantly and was comfortably run out at the striker's end. From there the swing bowling of Pakistan posed a brutal expose of the Webhead top order batting.

DeSilva, Dauth and Butler perished cheaply to Mohammad Asif and Rana Naved, leaving Marc Robbins to take guard in the face of crisis, a situation on which he once laid the foundation of his career. Partnered by a gutsy Daniel Towns, Robbins arrested the slide and the score of 40-4. The fifth wicket stand produced 73 runs, and it was then that madness set in. Towns pulled a long-hop into the hands of midwicket off the innocuous Shoaib Malik. Alex Crampton - so oft the hero in this series - started confidently with an off-drive for a boundary, but played on with an ill-advised cut shot a ball later. Malik had struck crucially twice in an over and Pakistan assumed control once again.

Robbins fought to his half-century, then he too perished to spin - a leading edge to Rehman. The tail could hardly offer much resistance, though Clapham looked reasonable in scoring 19, and the CW XI innings was abruptly by Asif.

Pakistan 243-9 (50 overs)
Bazid Khan 51; Mohammad Yousuf 39; Shoaib Malik 33
KR Clapham 3-40; KS Goughy 3-52; KS Wright 2-48

Cricket Web XI 168 all out (41.4 overs)
DP Towns/MJ Robbins 54; KR Clapham 19
Shoaib Malik 3-35; Mohammad Asif 3-38; Naved-ul-Hasan 2-38

Pakistan won by 75 runs.
Man of the Match:
Shoaib Malik
