2nd game in a row that Watson played out the first over and then Katich was out in the first over he faced (4th ball both times)..

...maybe they want to work on rotating the strike early...

Norwood's on Fire
Good move to pull Trott out of this anyway. We missed a trick by playing Onions in the first one.

What's the point of him playing if he's not going to be picked for the fifth? Would rather people that will be playing get some time in the middle in between a longish break.

Johnson batting ahead of Hartley. Niceeee.
They also have Lee and Hauritz ahead of him on the cricinfo scorecard so I can only assume they only want the Test Players to bat and they'll probably declare before his turn...

...for the record Hartley scored 524 runs @ 34.93 last season, with 2 centuries and 3 fifties, so he can bat (he scored more runs than Dussey and North btw, albeit in 18 innings vs their 14)

He should be in the selectors minds. Even if he isn;t you can't see any future value in him playing this match? Shortsighted imo.

Yeah there'd be a little bit of value but not compared to the value for the players actually playing next week. Plus what Hughes needs isn't time in the middle as much as full time working on his flaws ahead of the Australian home season so we can see debut mk II.

He was dropped over a month ago. Probably been in the nets every day since.
