*Official* Second Test at the Adelaide Oval

Can you seriously see Australia biting the bullet and dropping him though? He's a legend, basically he'll play on until he quits. Even after he quits people would still want him in the side.
What's the point of retaining him? He's 36, he now averages about 40 over the last year, he's a three-time Ashes loser, and we have a ready-made captain in waiting.

Yes, a legend. But let's not forget that Border and SWaugh were pushed.

Ponting is not immune.

Katich out of series as we guessed. Shame for him and Broad. Really hope Katich can come back but with age against him he may have played his last test here.
Really hope that the opportunity doesn't come up for him to come back in. If he's out for an extended period of time, you'd hope that Hughes takes the chance and makes the spot his own.

What chances on 3 changes for the next match? Katman gone for the series (maybe played his last test ever?) and North/Doherty are just not up to it. Would imagine if Hauritz gets wickets, and one of Khawja/Ferguson gets runs in the SA vs NSW match they would be in with a shot for Perth.

Sorry who's our ready made captain in waiting? Clarkes spots even been questioned lately, hardly what you want from a captain.....
Really don't know where Australian cricket is at at the moment.

Think it would be poetic justice if the last wicket was a run-out. Although Siddle is appropriately not trusting Dougy's calls.

To be fair his place had come under question from outside the team, which is a different matter

Don't think he's ready yet though. Had everything gone to plan I would have had Ponting let Clarke know to get ready end of this series, then hand it over end of next season.

best performed bat over teh past two years

"But he can't make runs under pressure and has too many tattoos!"

He'll have a tough time winning the public over IMO.

They'll have to try and get Hughes out of Freddie's pocket before they can consider calling him up though.
