Yeah this is set up so well. To be fair most teams have struggled from this sort of position recently, and they do need over 8 an over.

The story of Afghanistan's batting order is one of the strangest stories of the world cup. Started off opening with keeper-batsman Shahzad, then batted his replacement Ikram at 9 for a bit, now stick him at three and he makes more runs than in the rest of his career put together. And that's before we get to all the Najibullah weirdness.

It's set up for Asghar to get 20 (35) before the rest flop over tbh.

If they do make a game of it, they can probably blame their catching for no wins in the tournament.

That was a decent effort. Feel like the last three balls of the West Indies innings kind of pushed the target out of their reach.

That was a decent match for a dead rubber. It was great to see Afghanistan bat so well as it has been really shaky throughout this tournament.

As for us, another 300 plus score is good, we're getting more of them now. Hope batted like he can, Pooran was superb again and Hety and Holder had useful cameos.

Looking at our stars this world cup, it's highlights that:

1) Our top 3 run scorers were the clear future of our batting in Pooran, Hope and Hetmeyer. Pooran in particular was outstanding, averaging over 50 with a strikerate of 100.

2) Leaving out Roach was a massive mistake. In the 4 games he played he averaged 20 at an econ of 3.6. we got carried away with the short ball (me included) when good old length bowling has been effective in this tournament.

3) Our spin bowling was dreadful. Nurse and Allen went at well over 6 an over and hardly took any wickets. This clearly has to be resolved. Cornwall is needed now!

4) Carlos batted ok but his bowling is very expensive. I'm not sure we can afford for both him and Holder to play in the same lineup.

Yeah, checked the scorecard first and saw Braithwaite got a 4fer and thought ehh finally a bowler. Watched the highlights to see every wicket was caught on the boundary from a slog lol, and one came after he'd just bowled three consecutive wides? Lol

Leaving out Roach was a monumental mistake

Odd batting innings aside, Carlos needs to be punted

Yep absolutely. Our team management did not fill themselves with glory here .

My team for the India series:

Gayle (farewell series)
Lewis
Hope (wk, captain)
Hetmeyer
Pooran
Holder
Allen
Cornwall
Paul
Roach
Cotterell

Reserves

Allen
Ambris
Thomas

They probably won't replace Holder as ODI captain but they should.
