Bobby Simpson very uniquely bridges a big gap.

There's obviously a bit of a problem doing it for South Africa as no one played tests for them in both 1970 and 1992. But if the rebel tours are allowed then I think the following works.

Fred Smith
Jimmy Sinclair
John Commaillie
Jock Cameron
Dudley Nourse
Johnny Waite
Graeme Pollock
Allan Donald
Jacques Kallis
Hashim Amla

Would be great to have degrees of separation for FC teams as well.. not sure how far we can go with teams which have 200+ years of history though..

I'm not sure about the early ones but you can go

Hadlee (Sir R) debuted 1973
Parore
Vettori
Williamson

to finish. I remember that Parore debuted as a youngster in what was Hadlee's final test (1990 in England) as Ian Smith was injured

But we can't possibly compare players between eras. Bradman would average 30 if he played tests now.

Rutherford seems like it could be better. Just struggling to find a better Rutherford connection than Hadlee.
