Because it's ****ing weird to greet some guy you don't know with a friendly headbutt
It's actually perfect sledging material IMO. It's not horrible or anything like that but it definitely is embarrassing and potentially distracting for Bairstow.

This is excellent media games by the Aussies. Far better than straightforward lies. It's a real storm in a teacup but it puts the English on the back for entirely for the next test.
None of this was deliberate media games from anyone. It's just the media picking up and running with a nothing story that no one cares about.

Nah, this has only come up because the Australians started sledging Bairstow on-field within earshot of the stump mics. They're not dumb, they knew exactly what they were doing IMO.

I disagree. You guys are looking for sneakiness and game-playing where there isn't any.

There's a Sydney Melbourne rivalry but I don't think it's that serious

The rest of the country is cool with each other

A story hugely blown out of proportion by the media, albeit a very bizarre thing to do from Bairstow!

Move on to Adelaide.

Aren't New South Welshman despised by the rest of Australia?
Priorities. The Ashes are a time when Australians come together to celebrate how our ancestors fooled the villainous scum into transporting us to a paradise on earth by grinding their lackeys into the dirt and making them question all their life decisions.
