Quite disappointed in my efforts with the new cherry this series.

A whitewash would have been nice, but we can't be too greedy - at least we won the series. Good work boys.

dang. would've loved to have been able to go all the way with a whitewash. Dissapointed with making starts but not going on but I suppose I was due a quiet series.

Gutted at the loss after so many wins. Let's finish the series off on a couple of high notes, though.

Seventh One-day International: South Africa v Cricket Web XI
at Port Elizabeth

Scorecard
Commentary

A dull dead rubber, where Thandi Tshabalala made an inauspicious one-day debut, and Cricket Web eventually won by five wickets despite losing the toss. South Africa never managed to push the game their way, and when Cloete, Markus and Goff launched their way into their seamers, it quickly became a rout.

South Africa batted first, and after Gibbs and Smith put on 73 in just above 15 overs, Wright got one to seam away from Smith. The inevitable outside edge followed, Wright's first wicket of the series, which turned out to be the only one taken by a CW seamer. The three seamers showed good control, though, and helped by a top-notch field, none of them gave away more than five runs an over. Robbins and Butler, the part-timers, were taken on a bit by Prince, who finally fired with an unbeaten half-century. However, it was scratchy stuff, only including two boundaries, and the death bowling by Watt and Wright was exemplary.

Cricket Web took the task on with ease. Cloete smacked six boundaries from the opening spot, in an opening stand of 86 with Markus, who finally settled in for a big score. He showed little of the old Markus fireworks, but still made a respectable 77 with two huge stands, and with captain Blewy also making the half-century, the game was as good as over despite Andrew Hall swinging the ball plenty and lowering his series economy rate by a full run per over. It didn't help, as Pollock, Ntini, Nel and Tshabalala were all taken on by the CW batsmen, before a minor collapse and some surprisingly quick runs from a settled de Silva. The South African bowlers got five wickets, but conceded ten wides, and generally looked much blunter throughout the innings.

South Africa 238-4 (50 overs)
AG Prince 52; TC Halsey 2-42

Cricket Web XI 239-5 (39.4 overs)
I Markus 77, BJ Goff 58, A Cloete 50; Ntini 2-53 [8.4]

Cricket Web XI won by five wickets
Man of the Match: I Markus

Cricket Web XI win the series 6-1.
