Ronchi has certainly done more with the bat than Paine or Wade so far, nobody doubts their potential but atm Ronchi the more accomplished FC batsman. In terms of batting this is order:
- Haddin, Paine, Wade, Ronchi, Hartley and Croswaithe(sp).
Hussey never/rarely opens in One Day cricket. North, Ronchi, Bandy, Rogers, Langer and co all opened ahead of him for WA.I doubt Clarke would open unless Hussey refused the position.
Hussey is the better opening batsman, because he is a bloody opening batsman.
Clarke is a number 4 or 5, not an opener.
Only reason Clarke would open ahead of Hussey is if Hussey refused to open, or Ponting wanted Hussey to be the finisher of the innings like Bevan.
Well, there's Shane Watson when fit. He's done very well up in the order in ODIs.Isn't it a bit too early to start rating Wade, he has started off well but how he performs in the longer run is still to be seen.
Anyways Gilly is gonna retire from Odi cricket first (atleast we can assume he will) so Australia would need an opening batsman too so if Haddin comes in the team would he open for Australia because there isn't much room for him in the Australian middle order.
Good luck with that....Well, there's Shane Watson when fit. He's done very well up in the order in ODIs.
I've followed Wade's progress through junior carnivals for a few years now and seen him play a little, I think he's the real deal (with the bat atleast), I'm not just jumping on the bandwagon because he made 95 today.Isn't it a bit too early to start rating Wade, he has started off well but how he performs in the longer run is still to be seen.
