    Nathan Lyon

So where does this gollum looking ****er rank all time? Top 5 offspinner for sure - ATG as an offie? Murali a billion miles ahead, Harbajan, Ashwin & Swann possibly better but don't feel massively confident in saying that. He is 21st all time in wickets now, will go past Imran Khan & Danny V...

    The Ramprakash Conundrum

What do you do with a player who fails at Test level but continually smashes your domestic game? Are they given repeated chances? Is it fair to ignore them because they fail once (or more) if they continually dominate? Obviously England have had many notable examples, I am not sure of other...

    Cricket Monthly: New Stats

Probably of interest to quite a few on this site: The best stats measure | The Cricket Monthly | ESPN Cricinfo I like Zaltzman's stat quite a bit, although obviously the application is tongue in cheek the point is interesting.

    What does this site underrate/overrate?

Keep it off individuals opinions please, but what is the received wisdom on cricketweb that you don't buy. For me: Underrates: Big runs on flat pitches Overrates: Wicket keeping when rating wicketkeeper/batsmen. It isn't as important as made out by some of the purists.

Mitchell Marsh vs Ben Stokes thread

Taking over the tour thread so thought I'd start it here. I am on the fence who is the better bowler, really depends on more what your team needs. Think Stokes is comfortably the better and more destructive batsmen though. Marsh clearly a great timer of the ball but looked absolutely hopeless...

    Horses for courses: Batsmen

It is a pretty accepted thing for teams to chop and change bowlers depending on conditions, for example if you go to India teams will pick at least one more spinner and sometimes two. However batsmen seem to be expected to be the same regardless of conditions. Why don't teams have specialist...
