This game really did highlight how flawed India's middle order is though. I really don't think India deserve to be called favourite when Dhoni and Co are stinking it up like this. Rohit and kohli aren't going to score tons every game.

India also treated this game a little lightly compared to previous ones which was evident in their batting.

India still is clear and only favorites as they have both batting and bowling to pull off a chase or strangle opponents' chases.

Srilanka won a WC and plethora of other stuff by going blitzkrieg at the start in chases. And you would think it was not hard for them to hit Akram, Donald, Mcgrath, Ambrose and co.
We are talking about recent associate graduates up against the likes of Bumrah, it's a testament to their mental resolve and grafty execution that they were able to take the game into the last over and come within a handful of runs.

The SL batting line up of 1996 was very strong and talented on the other hand, playing in familiar conditions, completely different circumstances

Really should be Nabi tbh. Awesome all-round effort
you're right, forgot about his bowling spell because i'd erased all memory of india's batting.

his batting was so good, so in control. would've been one of the most badass odi innings i'd have seen in a while if he'd have just finished it.

Last two India-AFG games have been absolute thrillers. This one and the one in the Asia Cup. More India-AFG games pls.

Yes, I agree it's a testament to how far they have come.

I would infact say Afghans have a slightly more complete team than Srilanka before the 96 WC. They got a real good bowling unit and contrary to how it looked in today's game, their batsmen are more of the swashbuckling type, very remiscient of Srilanka 96.

This match was Afghans' as soon as India got out for 224. I firmly believe Afghanistan didn't lose because of pressure or because of India's good bowling. They lost because of a slightly wrong strategy of not going quick at the start and leaving things under extreme pressure for the end.

Some of their top and middle order batsmen got out on complete non shots. Now if they at least took a risk, then it would have been getting out to a shot trying to increase the run rate. For example some of those who got out on a short ball, avoided smashing previous half tracks/volleys. If those were smashed and then they got out to a short ball, it would have been worth it.

Manjrekar has been so condescending towards Afghanistan throughout this who match.. Made his best efforts to ruin an otherwise entertaining match.

Missed Indian batting (not much batting anyway). Really good bowling by India defending a low total. Good drama in the end + your team winning is a delight. Well played Afghanistan and hope they atleast win 1 game this WC.

The commentary was absolutely diabolical. Some of the worst I've ever heard really

India batted atrociously but they fielded exceptionally. Bumrah and Shami were quality but against a better batting side the rest would have struggled. Chahal got away with too many loose deliveries

Would have been so awesome if Nabi got them over the line

Yes, and from having a great top 3 we're down to 2 with Dhawan gone.

Rather than mucking around with half batsmen at 4, they should play Jadhav there. At least his place in team is secure. Too important a position to play unsettled batsmen there. Seeing how Dhoni struggled to hit in gaps he should play behind all specialist batsmen, if not dropped.
