Bit rich to put Jones as an allrounder ... that makes the assumption that he can bat

edit: oh, and keep for that matter.

Harsh on Steak to not fall into the all rounder rating and Jones is there. Also Nixon can do anything pretty sure he is the reserve keeper.

There is no way a CW side could beat this team. Honestly. As strong as, say, CW Black are, even they are no match for the likes of Lara and co.
Look, I know I'm a **** for bringing this up, but this is possibly the "best" call since Andy's one re: South Africa ODI.

They've obviously been dumbed down in their abilities in fear of backlash from the CW community.
The Master's XI isn't that far ahead of some of the CW sides, though. Their first class and List A averages are as follows.

Batsmen
BC Lara (WI) 51.88 & 39.67
Inzamam-ul-Haq (PAK) 50.10 & 38.06
DR Martyn (AUS) 49.25 & 42.83
H Marshall (NZ) 36.39 & 27.43
WW Hinds (WI) 35.10 & 28.26
ET Smith (ENG) 41.86 & 31.35
DM Benkenstein (SA) 46.45 & 35.66

Bowlers
HH Streak (ZIM) 28.76 & 28.55 (bat 26.31 & 25.71)
SK Warne (AUS) 26.11 & 24.61 (19.43 & 11.81)
NAM McLean (WI) 27.51 & 27.26 (13.51 & 13.69)
T Henderson (SA) 26.81 & 25.81 (15.80 & 23.08)
MV Nagamootoo (WI) 29.22 & 25.03 (19.02 & 17.62)
WB Rankin (IRL) 25.46 & 35.47 (1.66 & 8.00)

Allrounders
L Klusener (SA) 40.50 & 39.90 - 29.50 & 31.15
GO Jones (ENG) 30.94 & 23.48

They're good, but statistically, they're not a world away from us. Unlike real cricket, the dev league is based on statistics. I don't know what Liam and Hakon entered for The Masters, so I can't really say if they've been 'dumbed down' so we're more competitive or not.

Going by career stats (since I don't have the simming stats) there are at least a few players in each team who are better than some (if not all) of The Masters.

Statistically they're far and away better batsmen. All of the specialist batsmen average over 35 in FC cricket, and most of them well over 40. How many Dev League batsmen average over 40? I don't, and if I do it's only just barely. There's only 2 batsmen in the Black lineup that do, Arnold and Cloete. If it was done properly, statistics-wise, they sure as hell wouldn't be getting bundled out cheaply very often.

Yeah, thats true. I think it could be a reflection though, on the strong bowling of the dev league. But again, I cannot be sure. Would like official word from Liam or Hak on this.

The statistics have not been dumbed down. But if every batsman with a simming average over 50 scored 50+ per innings, Dev League cricket would be no fun. As it is, even excellent simming averages can come up fruitless in a given game. And as has been shown countless times before, very good teams can have very bad starts to the season.

The simming averages are exactly the same as they were pre-season and the only adjustments that have been made to career numbers are the standard adjustments for use in ITC and HODI, which ALL players undergo.

Apparently all of this is contrary to what Smith deems as obvious though.

And by the way, there are 5 players in CW Black with simming averages over 40 in FC cricket. That includes Smith, who has the second highest of those simming averages. There are 4 at CW Blue, 4 at CW Colts, 5 at Green and 3 at Red. In the Masters XI there are 5 who average over 40, of which only two average as much or more than Smith. And Lara averages less than Cloete. Really not sure what the big surprise is. The Masters XI getting bundled out cheaply is about as likely as CW Black being bundled out cheaply. More likely, even.

Thanks for answering that, Liam. Didn't think that they were too statistically superior to the rest of the league...

I actually wasn't talking about simming averages, I was talking about career averages. I realise simming averages are (for the most part) significantly better than the career average (how could I not know this, for one). For say, Lara, his career average is 50+, wouldn't that mean his simming average is significantly higher than his career average? Same goes for all of them, Martyn with a career average of 45ish would have a higher simming average than mine, say, unless, as of course you have done, you take age deterioration into it.

In other news, not everything I say is in malice or even that serious.

No. The difference between Masters XI simming averages and everyone else's is Dev League experience points.
