Fairly predictable top 5 really. I thought White Noise would be higher. I don't think there will be many classics from this list.

Certainly seems like it. I know people will say it's voted by the people but, well, the radio itself has control over who gets played so if they blanket cover KoL's new album, it won't be a surprise when it charts well.

That is dead set the worst top 10 they've ever had. Complete ****ing rubbish.

Dunno, there's some hot tracks that year.....

1998 | history | triple j hottest 100 - 2008 | triple j

Massive Attack with 'Teardrop' at #23 is pretty criminal, I reckon.
I like 1998 too. The chili's on the cover is actually the only JJJ Hottest 100 I've bought.

I normally have all/most of the songs I like by the name Hottest 100 comes around.

Re: Teardrop you never know, like that song may have come out in January or perhaps right at the end of December.

I reckon the key is having a song that comes out in around September or October as it's still on everyone's minds and people aren't completely sick of it yet.

I think a battle of the 10 best songs from the last 10 JJJ Hottest 100 voting count could be interesting. We could have a few wildcards added too.

I don't think the top 10 is that bad, considering. I mean, the top 10 is always the most painful part of the Hottest 100 coz that's when all the commercialised and overplayed songs come into it.

Sex On Fire was an obvious shoe-in for number one. I voted for Talk Like That, so I can't really complain about where that came in. A few others are a bit dodgey.

But really, the best part of the Hottest 100 is seeing who makes the numbers 100 to 11, and exactly which spot they all made it to.

Anyhows, my list was this:
The Grates- Carve Your Name
Ladyhawke- Paris Is Burning
The Presets- Talk Like That
John Steel Singers- Rainbow Kraut
Little Red- Coca Cola
Little Red- Jackie Cooper
Lisa Mitchell- Neopolitan Dreams (mainly coz my boyfriend forgot to vote for it...)
Port O'Brien- I Woke Up Today
Boat People- Awkward Orchid Orchard
Ben Folds Five (feat Regina Spektor)- You Don't Know Me

Hit the nail on the head there, though i'd nearly say 100-20 is where the better music is played.
