  • The reason why I seconded everyone was primarily that I thought they were all good posters who deserved to be in the competition. My secondary reason was that I figured we would be here for a large number of days if we each got picky about who to second.

I reckon despite my mass seconding I just did, it will still take a number of days to fill your remaining spots.

Just thought my post might have worried you so am giving you an explanation.
Yeah, I also started with The Colour of Magic. I ended up getting Going Postal for her -- felt that the technology side of things and the character of Moist wouldn't be a bad place to start (especially with, erm, recent events making books heavily featuring Death a generally bad idea).

Trust you to recommend a Vimes novel for it; if Going Postal goes well I'll suggest that one next.
Interested in your opinion -- if I were to hypothetically planning on attempting to introduce Ms. Dan to Pratchett/Discworld, which book would you suggest?
Yeah maybe, guess it depends on a variety of things. What was the lie, when did you come clean, where was it etc. And I think it becomes an issue purely about morality and one the law shouldn't touch.
No I do agree with that. If you'd discussed the Ched Evans case with me (which as I say I wouldn't do on an open forum) I'd probably be closer to your viewpoint than maybe you'd expect.

I guess all I'm getting at on the thread there is we must distinguish between consent not being given/no state to consent, and those cases whereby someone has consented on the basis of a lie.
Haha, I'll refrain from posting it as a joke in irrelevant threads then. No promises about political threads though.
    Yeah fair enough

Even on a crowd generally as good as CW, it's not an issue (as in, consent) I'd ever discuss online. Too much room for misinterpretation.
Not sure if you felt my post was a 'blurred lines' one - there's absolutely no blurring and he was rightfully convicted IMO. But could see how you got that implication from my post.
Is Guards Guards the best Pratchett novel ever, or is Good Omens, the one that sneaks away from Discworld to do it, I'm undecided myself I need a vote from the norwaynese jury.
