Our government's done a great job of educating the public about misinformation. Barely getting any these days and the few I've seen in group chats are quickly called out for it. The elderly are getting a hang of how to work their BS detectors. Helps that the government announces everything quickly, through multiple social media platforms and are pretty transparent.

Not sure whether that would work in certain countries where the government is the one peddling misinformation though..

I really don't think most of these forwards have such bad intent behind them... Its just that many are now weary of all these restrictions and lockdown and desperate to cling on to any bit of hope they can. As a matter of fact, I am getting daily alerts on SMS as well as social media from both central and state Government asking to avoid unnecessary panic and to not trust any forwards etc.

It's not the misinformation that is getting to me tbh. It's the crappy forwards that I have no interest in along with multiple 10-15 minute clips with a comment attached saying things like 'must watch, 'very interesting', 'good to know etc.

These happening in groups I can't afford to mute are killers and wear me down constantly.

A former colleague of mine sent around a "send all" email to the entire University I used to work at the other day, that basically said (Re: Coronavirus) "OMG WE ARE GOING TO DIE THE UNIVERSITY IS NOT TAKING PRECAUTIONS SERIOUSLY AND WE NEED TO TAKE THINGS INTO OUR OWN HANDS"

Pretty funny.

Now having a series of meetings with HR about why this sort of behaviour is not appropriate apparently.
