Impressed with Warner today, I thought this match was going nowhere but he has given me hope that there is another twist or two to come.

I grew up playing against Warner, and I'd never seen anything like it in terms of pure pace off the bat, and that was using an Impala as an Under 17.

Discussion on equipment etc for historical comparison is absolutely pointless.

Gloves, pads, helmets etc would all make a difference. Quantifying that difference is absolutely impossible.

I tried to get some pictures with better comparison.

No doubt Warner's bat is thicker in the centre but the difference is not that huge. I think he would have been OK with using Tendulkar's bat
His bat isn't as heavy as it should be, though, that's the difference. He wouldn't be able to swing through the line as easily as he does or generate the same insane batspeed.

Discussion is irrelevant though, since unless I'm missing something, Warner isn't actually playing in the 1990s.

He wouldn't have, because Tendulkars was a good few ounces heavier.
Why wouldent he have, Warner is much stronger than Tendulkar and there is nothing to suggest he would not have adjusted to any size/weight bat and still performed just as good. How did you come up with this, is it just a wild guess or have you watched Warner struggle with a different size/weighted bat, how could you possibly know this?.

Bat weight is rarely a strength issue. Tendulkar did not use a heavier bat because he was strong, it was because he was used to a certain weight. Same with Warner, i suppose.
