Quite a close game yesterday on TIE, bowlers didn't really perform.

Doobie Bombers 225/10 (48.1)
Whitehorne 4-21 (9), Watkins/Downer/Harewood/Kealeboga 1 apiece

Asterix XI 226/7 (46)
Richardson 73 (75), Watkins 73 (93), Shane 27 (33)

Richardson once again performing surprisingly well for his skill level after the 98 he made the other week, doing his best to discourage me from selling him. Ratings were quality/exceptional/masterful/wonderful (top/mid/seam/spin), no real change.

The good news as far as my title hopes are concerned is that Borderliners lost, which means I now have a points lead as well as a significant NRR lead. Two wins from the remaining three matches should therefore secure the title. Have to play Flintstones, Badlands and Saint Barth Blondes though; the former two beat me last time round.

Yea I think in Battrick you've got to have many batsmen who can sort of cope with the bowling, rather than a few guns or lots of crappy respectable/proficient types (the 'crappy' bit depends on your opposition obviously).

I've been bowled out all of once this season (although Appleby has saved me somewhat a few times) and I've faced my fair share of good bowling attacks.

This certainly seems to be borne out in the TM, where in my (admittedly sporadic) experience, gun bowlers seem to go for a fair bit more than the equivalent batsman. Fairly unscientific, but it's still interesting to note that of the top 15 transfers this season in England, not one is a specialist batsman (there are 11 all-rounders of varying note, and 4 specialist bowlers).

Even though we have been bowled out a fair bit and the bowlers we face aren't as good as what is in Craig's league. I reckon a lot of our competitive matches are based on having five decent batsmen. It means more often then not your going to score decent totals. Rather then having a side which has 2-3 top batsmen and not much else. My side actually has scored more runs then the side coming 6th, who has a SL NT batsmen, an former SL U19 Batsmen and another decent bat. If it wasn't for this i probably would have sold a couple of my decent bats by now and got one 'gun' batsmen. I might still do that, but it would have more to do with lack of nets then improving performance.

Had your typical BT Collapse. Started over 40 at 5/152, all out for 166. Very happy with that effort, especially after their good start (1/53 after 10).

Crampton unlucky; had a very good start, but the last six wickets went for 15 runs. Pleased with that effort though, especially with Burger's first fifty for the Ponies.

Just a had decent look at my team's progress this season. We are still coming first and are in the top half of promotion table. So we should auto promote, unless we lose/tie a game from no where. Just noticed we got a respectable top order, starting the season with medicore. We had woeful when i first began, about a full season ago. Things looking pretty good. Should have about five proficient players in a couple weeks.

Looking ok in my friendly against Tharmi, were batting first. Lost an early wicket, but i have my two top batsmen in now. The idiot said he was going to play a 2nd string side and then played a quality batsmen as an opener. So i got no chance, regardless of what total i get.
