Think you lot are missing the point though, doing something and having pasttimes isn't an escape. Delving into an imaginary world, that's an escape.

Even if we assume that the only reason people read is into escape into their imagination, how is that any different to watching shows, movies and sports - all things I assume Matteh partakes in as well? Or listening to music even.

All forms of entertainment engage your imagination at some level.
