Totalitarianism gone mad AKA the China thread

Every now and again people need the guiding hand of the State to help them along. If they're ungrateful for it or show insufficient gratitude, then it's incumbent on the State to take further action.
Why the **** does it have to be the state? Why can't it be a local organisation designed around helping the local population who are struggling?

Like a local council?

It’s because the state is the people and the people are the state. Everyone knows that.

Your second point is nonsense. The State is purely an organisation to protect the rights and liberties of the people living within the jurisdiction of the state. It has no right to 'guide and help people along'.

Spoken like a true oppressor of the working people.

Plainly.

As you know, the workers united will never be defeated. Unfed if GIMH was in power, but never defeated.

What a great way to educate the public and make your members know what the organisation they represent stands for.

Honestly it works on all sorts of people. I know that mainstream Western coverage of China isn't exactly great at times, but you try to read alternative takes from people who have spent more time in the country and you'll be taken aback by sudden "it doesn't really matter what form a government takes so long as it gets results" and "the Uyghur people would be so much better off if they stopped misbehaving"

Hey, they're getting economic results and they're removing over a billion people from abject poverty. The guiding hand of the Party is doing a lot right over there.

Prosperity is a cure for many ills though. Not for all, and esp not for an all powerful state which prioritizes stability of ideology too highly. But I am not going to pretend that the trade-off is an easy one.

India and China were pretty much at the same place in the 60s. The median Chinese person's life is oodles better than a median Indian person's life now, even though we have democracy and more freedom of religion and expression.
