Always odd when a player on the verge of being dropped picks up a mysterious injury. Possibly trying to let him down gently in the eyes of the public?

If Khawaja’s stocks have fallen so far they’re thinking of batting him at 4 again, he’s gotta come out.

A side strain isn't a minor injury in cricket terms though. Typically it means a minimum a month or two out on the sidelines, especially if your job is to bowl.
Severity matters too. The two seasons McG missed in his Test career were essentially from side strains.

Yeah most times I've seen a bowler pick up a side strain, it's an immediate "welp, that's him done for most of this season then"

Yup. Wait a month, bowl half rat, feels good, first ball at pace, gut punch because you just pinged it again. **** injury.

Another tournament defining game this. Should be good. My vote is for Australia though I would like the underdog Pakistan to win this.
Whether Starc can reach somewhere near the level he attained in 2015 would certainly be tournament defining.
Bad time for Jhye Richardson to pick up an injury; this attack would have been a lot better with him in it.

For the record - mainly looks cloudy throughout the day for this one. Should be a game. And come on Pakistan.

Jhye Richardson would have been an excellent third seamer in this attack. It's a huge step down to Coulter-Nile.

McGrath was sharpish for much of his career

Was never express but definitely not a guy that you could simply prop forward to
Even when he was bowling low 130s you couldn't prop forward to him because of the bounce he got, so it's really a separate point from the one GAS was making.

Also even at 125Km/h, his bumper could neck you because there was almost no change in action. Nightmare of a bowler.

As for the game, giving it to Pakistan. Reckon Shadab might do some damage here. Got a feeling this Aussie side will do better chasing than setting, though.
