Yes, I have made about 500 posts stating that Dhoni should bat at 4, but no more. He doesn't rotate strike. Either he comes to arrest a collapse or he bats after all specialist batsmen.
I don't know why teams are so reluctant to adopt this idea of having a bloke who floats in the order to do just this, particularly in conditions where there's a bit on offer and losing lots of early wickets has been shown be hard to recover from.

See also, Khawaja, U.

The problem with Dhoni is that his defensive technique, especially to outswing bowling, also really sucks, so he can't bat in the top order like Khawaja does. See also: his Test career.

So his role is basically to come in in the lower middle order, block for a while without rotating the strike like he used to, and then slog for the last couple of overs. On occasions this is actually very useful but it's far less useful then the stats he's outputting suggest. He cops too much **** on here as if he's just tactically deciding to be an arsehole when it's more a physical limitation now that he's aged and declined, but questioning his value isn't stupid.

Shut it, ****. How do you explain his knock against England. Basically zero attempt to hit boundaries when the game was (atleast mathematically) alive.

1. I actually didn't watch the end of that game because I wrote it off as being over, which not only absolves me from having an opinion but also makes what Dhoni did after I chalked it up for England realistically inconsequential.
2. I don't think he cops too much **** from you. I actually think your assessment of his batting has actually been the most accurate on CW for ages tbh. At least since you stopped pretending that sending him out at 20/2 in England would be a great idea, anyway. :p

He does cop too much **** on here as people go to the extent of questioning whether he was ever any good. Guess that's par for the course when you hang on too long and damage your legacy.

His knocks in the last two games have been a disgrace, though. Against England, at least there was run-rate pressure, and you could argue that it can mess with your judgement. But yesterday, he came in in a dream situation and still played a horrendous knock. If you can't clear the fence anymore, at least knock it around, take twos, run like crazy, do something. Declining singles while you're dead-batting balls to infielders is hopeless stuff. Was pretty much the same vs. WI, except that he got to feast on Thomas's poor last over.

But it's too late to do anything about it, so we've just got to hope that we can continue to hide his weaknesses with Rohit/Kohli doing the bulk of the scoring for the next couple of games.

This is madness. Why do so many people want Jadeja in place of specialist batsman or bowler. He can come in place of Pandya but Pandya is going so good, you wouldn't want that either.
Because the specialist batsmen have sucked and it allows India to play 3 pacers + Kuldeep.

Not too fond of this idea personally, but would like it to be given a go against SL.

What's up with Rohit Sharma's freaky 100 conversion rate in World Cups?

3 of the top 4 players with most centuries: Sachin (6), Sanga, Pointing (5 each). The other one is Rohit (5).

All the others have played 35+ innings (45 for Sachin). Rohit's played 15...

On his best day, Jadeja will score 40. On his best day Jadhav can score 80-100.

he's 34 and his best days are way behind him

hasn't done anything after those run chases and that was 2 years ago or something

Played an important knock in a successful chase down under this year. Prevented Dhoni from "taking it deep".
