***Official*** India in England 2014

The England team might see a serious change up for the India series. I think Moeen will be dropped for Stokes and a specialist spinner will be brought in for either Jordan/Plunkett (Jordan more likely). Robson has done well enough in this series to keep his place but I think Compton will be waiting in the wings to replace either Cook or Robson. Prior imho should be dropped, with either Buttler or Foster taking the gloves (Buttler if selectors want runs over glove skills, Foster if opposite.)

For me:

Cook
Robson
Ballance/Moeen
Bell
Root
Stokes
Buttler/Foster
Broad
Plunkett
Anderson
Monty/Kerrigan/Riley

Don't think the beard deserves to be dropped, tbh. There's nothing to say any of the other spinners would've done better than him.

I don't think there's many selections England can make.

Cook, Prior, Anderson and Broad have all been the best or nearly the best in their fields until the last 12 months or so, and they're the ones letting England down. Robson, Plunkett, Ballance and even Moeen have done their jobs.

I would be glad if England drops Cook. He is the guy who I think will hurt India the most in this series. England without Cook, Pietersen and Prior looks so much more beatable.

I agree, even though all three are in not so good form and condition I'd still rather not face them, It might be a strange thing to say but as an Indian fan I've seen a lot of out of form players automatically come back into form against us (think Ponting 2011/12, Jesse Ryder, McCullum, etc).

Yes, and as I mentioned in the other thread, left handers do make a mark against India. Hayden, Chanderpaul and Flower spring to mind instantly. Hence, Cook has both out of form and left handed factors going for him.

Hayden, Chanderpaul and Flower are all frikken awesome batsmen though. As good or miles better than Cook. I'm not sure being out of form is really going for him or just a silly superstition, tbh.

His shot yesterday was definitely an "out of form" shot. Desperate to get bat on ball, saw something vaguely enticing and went too hard at it etc

The only contest in the series is going to be between Cook and Dhoni. Who is going to place the most fielders in the outfield first?

Ponting coming back to form was especially funny. He went back out of form promptly after India left the shores. Man our bowling is ****.
