The Political Compass Test

Now:
Economic Left/Right: -5.75
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -6.92

Can't really explain the dramatic economic views shift in just 3 year's time, but I'm not surprised to find myself even further entrenched on the Libertarian Left scale.
Meh Libertarian views like that were along well before Libertarians existed on a social scale, I hate them for a bunch of utter morons economically, but I will consider myself old-style left-wing, or left-libertarian, on social issues, not aligned with those heartless scum, because that's who espoused it first for many years. Just because they're a morally bankrupt ridiculous farce of an ideology, only gaining popularity because they're funded by many multi-billionaires trying (and succeeding) to push the political agenda rightwards, shouldn't mean you should be ashamed for wishing for more freedoms in social issues.

Not sure if you're critiquing my results or just commenting in general about Libertarianism, but I equate the "left-libertarian" designation in this this test to a "progressive" political view. Meaning, liberal views on social issues, but a socialist-type preference for the government (especially in regards to looking out for the poor). I'm quite proud of those views, thank you very much. :)

Nah you've got the wrong end of the stick there, he's saying you should be proud of them.

Yeah, like Gimp said your results are similar to mine, so not sure I'd criticise it. I was just having a pop at the current fad of Neo-liberalism, like I try to do as much as humanly possible, as it makes me feel slightly better about the hellish political landscape we find ourselves in.

Heading steadily towards the idiot corner
Welcome it's fun here, we don't have cake or cookies though as that's clearly capatilist decadence, here have some fair-trade gruel.

I can sweeten the deal with drugs though.

I think it's an underrated corner.

Economic Left/Right: -8.75
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -6.97

2007:

Economic Left/Right: -4.12
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -5.85

I have to say, I thought I'd be more -2, -10, but there you go.
2011

economic left/right: -4.75
social libertarian/authoritarian: -4.92

2012

Economic Left/Right: -4.50
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -6.41

Nearly no one comes out being right of center on economic scale on this test, which can only mean that the test is somewhat biased. I also got left of center on both scales, though I don't believe I am on the economic one.

I suspect my score is quite accurate, but a lot of the questions are poorly phrased or misleading. It's not the rigorous of tests imo, just a bit of fun.

You have to be utterly ridiculous to end up on the extreme right of the economic scale. I think it is because they often come across as moral, rather than practical questions, you basically have to be a total bastard to get an extreme score.

Exactly. Really though I think even you would have to be at least half joking to get more than a 3 or 4.

Haha nah my score is legit. It's probably just how I see the test in some cases though; it's a political compass not a moral compass so I answer the questions how I'd want the state to.

What were your scores?

Economic Left/Right: 6.5
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -9.49

I used to get much further right results than even that though if you look further back in the thread; stuff above 9 at times. Where I've come back on that front is that I now realise most massive corporations are actually propped up by rather than impeded by them, as legislators but up barriers to entry and protect the status quo with subsidies.. so my answers on corporation-related questions have changed a bit.

Id suggest the questions aren't biased, but the demographic answering them are.

We are the CW hivemind after all. It's already fairly exclusive being an online quiz on a non-mainstream, independent websit (your poor/ectremely wealthy 70 year old hardcore christian republican grandad isn't likely to stumble across this quiz, let alone be ****ed to take it), so naturally the results are going to be skewed. You already represent a certain niche demographic by being the kind of person to take this quiz and engage in a discussion over it on a forum.
