Cats throw up as a sign of love. Your cat did not throw up from being outside. He could have very well thrown up outside. He went out of his way to bring it inside for you.

So I was playing long dark, which is a survival game on my laptop and you have to stun rabbits sometimes, kill 'em and eat them. Fatty was nearby and freaked out a bit when the rabbits squealed when I killed them in the game.
