Sri Lanka have had a much better tournament than most would have expected. If two of their matches hadn't been rained out, they could have had 2 more points and still been very much in contention for the semis.

With this chase coming down to the last few overs Sri Lanka currently have 1 over left from Malinga, who if he stays on will bowl the 48th over, three from their legspinner, and that's it.

If this comes down to Karunaratne bowling himself in the 50th over it might be my favourite bowling decision ever

Another day another close loss. That's now Australia, NZ and Sri Lanka we've lost close matches against.

Yet again it's the big moments we lost. The likes of Gayle and Holder should know better tbh.

Still, Pooran is an awesome young player and I'm so glad to see him get a proper run and deliver the goods.

Allen finally got some time at the crease and he looked seriously good. He should get higher up the order. He bowled decently today also.

I'm looking forward to seeing how this team shapes up in the future.

In an alternate reality, WI could well have won the aforementioned games plus SA and Afghanistan and made it to the Semi Finals. One of their biggest tactical blunders was not playing Roach early on in the tournament. It did not help that Russell batted like Maxwell all tournament.

Has to be said that for Sri Lanka this has been a pretty decent World Cup. They turned up a week late admittedly, but since that first loss to NZ they've generally been at least competitive, creating scary moments for Australia, tipping over England and now beating a flagging WI. If they can round it off with a respectable showing against India I reckon they can go home with their heads held high.

Agreed that Roach should have played regularly. Team management has not had the best of tournaments tbh. They overdid the short ball tactics, have bowled first all the time even though evidence in this tournament suggests it has been tricky chasing.

Our fielding has been diabolical also. We have some people like Gayle who need hiding but the rest should do better. There has been a big regression from the performance under Pybus.

Not the best audition for Reifer et company. Especially with Phil Simmons becoming available after this tournament.

Yeah she knew both Carlos and Kraigg growing up, but was closer to Kraigg who she stopped from getting bullied.

She also knew Chris Jordan at the same school. Small world.
Given Barbados's freakish ability to produce decent cricketers per capita, probably a bit easier to know famous cricketers than what it is in other parts of the world.
